
Warriors Announce Showcase Event Schedule

SANTA CRUZ, Calif.-The Santa Cruz Warriors announced today a full event schedule in connection with the 2015 NBA D-League Showcase presented by Samsung, which tips off Thursday, Jan. 15, and runs through Monday, Jan. 19.
The 11th annual NBA D-League Showcase will take place at Kaiser Permanente Arena, home of the Santa Cruz Warriors. Each of the NBA D-League's 18 teams will play two games each during the 2015 NBA D-League Showcase, with eight teams playing for the inaugural Showcase Cup, a bracketed in-season tournament. Teams qualified for the Cup by earning the NBA D-League's best records through Jan. 1, 2015. All Showcase games, with the exception of the Championship Game on Monday, Jan. 19, count toward regular season records.
Showcase Event Highlights:
Downtown Dribble Parade:
January 14th at 1:00 p.m.
Starting at Memorial Plaza and continuing down Pacific Street to Kaiser Permanente Arena, the Dribble Parade will kick-off the 2015 NBA D-League Showcase. Santa Cruz City School students will dribble down Pacific Ave. with special edition Showcase basketballs, and the first thousand kids in attendance will get to take one home. Santa Cruz Secondary Schools Cheerleading squads will lead the march culminating in a pep rally at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
Math Warriors Program:
January 15th and 16th at 10:00 a.m., Kaiser Permanente Arena
For the last several months, the Warriors have been working with Santa Cruz City Schools to develop a math curriculum to culminate with a student field trip to the Showcase. The students were introduced to the origin, history, and basic concept of basketball and participated in several different in-class activities over the last two weeks. On Thursday and Friday, the Warriors are bussing nearly 4,000 students to the Showcase to watch a game and work on their math curriculum, developed from NBA D-League statistics. My Brother's Keeper:
January 17th at 10:00 a.m., Watsonville YMCA
The Watsonville YMCA is will hold a Youth Leadership Panel alongside NBA D-League Cares program support. Every winter, the Watsonville YMCA invites local children ages 3-14 to participate in its Winter Youth Basketball league from January through March. To tip off the league's this year, the Watsonville YMCA is teaming up with NBA D-League Cares to host a leadership workshop from 10am-11am directed at 13- 18 year-old boys of color in support of the My Brother's Keeper initiative. Santa Cruz Warriors Showcase Games:

The Santa Cruz Warriors earned a three seed in the Inaugural Showcase Cup and will face the Canton Charge on Thursday, January 15th at 7:00 pm PST and will play again on Saturday, January 17th, pending Thursday night's outcome.
