FLORENCE, SC -- The Pee Dee Pride ended a three-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Charlotte Checkers in front of 2,319 fans on Friday at the Florence Civic Center.

Pee Dee struck first just 2:48 into the contest as a Jan Vodrazka blast from the blue line eluded Charlotte goaltender Alex Westlund.

Charlotte tied the game just past the midway point of the period as Juris Stals took a perfect pass from Eddie Pershin and slid a shot past Nick Boucher.

The Pride went on top for good 13:10 into the second period as Gregg Johnson beat Westlund for his team leading 20th goal of the season. The goal also extended Johnson's scoring streak to 10 games.

Johnson iced the game with an empty-net tally with 17 seconds left.

Boucher finished with 20 saves in the victory.

The Pride open up a six-game road trip tomorrow night, as they travel to the North Charleston Coliseum for a 7:00 face-off against the South Carolina Stingrays. Catch all of the action on WDAR Sunny 105.5 and www.peedeepride.com starting with the Palmetto Chiropractic Pre-Game Show at 6:40.

Pee Dee returns home on Saturday, April 2, hosting the Columbia Inferno at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Florence Civic Center Box Office or through TicketMaster at (843) 679-9333 or www.ticketmaster.com.
