
Johnson Goes Deep Twice in Wings Win

HARLINGEN, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings' took game one of their double-header against the San Angelo Colts with a 6-3 victory. David Peralta hit a home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Wings a lead they would hold onto. Carl Johnson helped pace the offense with a pair of home runs.
The WhiteWings took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Wesley Dimitt drew a bases loaded walk scoring Leivi Ventura from third. Ventura reached on a fielder's choice and was advanced on a David Peralta single and a walk by Edgar Trejo.
The Wings added a pair of runs in the second inning as Carl Johnson hit his first home run of the season, a two run shot to left center field which also scored Brandon Decker who was on with a single.
The San Angelo Colts would add a run in the top of the fourth inning as Clay Calfee got aboard with a double and advanced to third and scored on a pair of wild pitches.
The Colts tied the game in the fifth inning as Ronnie Gaines hit a two-run home run to tie the game. The homer ended the night of Eric Blackwell who pitching four a two thirds with six strikeouts.
Just minutes later David Peralt hit his third home run of the season, a solo shot to left center to give the Wings the lead once again.
Carl Johnson hit his second home run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning increase the Wings lead to two. The Wings would add one more run as part of their victory.
Edgar Martinez entered the game for the seventh and final inning and earned his seventh save of the season.
Danny Rondon (1-0) earned the win while the loss was issued to *Steve MacFarland*.
Game two of the double-header follows 30 minutes after game one.
The WhiteWings and Colts will turn to San Angelo for a four game series starting tomorrow night at Foster Field. The Wings and Saints will play four games with Andy Wells (2-0, 1.47 ERA) for the Wings. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
