San Angelo Colts News Release

Harlingen, Texas---On Wednesday night the Colts looked to regroup after narrowly losing game one to the Rio Grande WhiteWings. In game two the Colts played a near perfect game offensively, defensively and on the mound. It was Mr. Perfect himself on the mound for San Angelo, as Gorman Romero who has still not lost a game in a Colts uniform, had another great start on the mound. The victory helped lead the Colts to a 5-2 win, to even the four game set at one a piece.

The Colts touched up starter Alexander Concepcion (2-1) for two runs in the first, getting an RBI single by Clay Calfee and a sac fly RBI by Jon Edwards, to go up 2-0 before the WhiteWings could even come to the plate. Rio Grande cut it to one, getting an RBI groundout by Edgar Trejo after Wesley Dimitt tripled in front of him and it was 2-1 after the first inning.

San Angelo got two more runs on a homerun in the fourth by Ronnie Gaines (4) who in his first at bat singled to extend his hitting streak to 14 games to start the season, to put the Colts up 4-1. An RBI single by Jon Fernandez cut the lead in half at 4-2, but San Angelo added an insurance run in the sixth on a throwing error by Rio Grande third baseman Leivi Ventura to put the Colts up 5-2, which was your final.

Gorman Romero (2-0) pitched another gem going six and two-thirds, allowing seven hits, two runs, did not walk a batter and struck out six. The Kramer brothers Adam and Sean, along with former big leaguer Francisco Cruceta, who struck out the side in the eighth, setup Sean Kramer (2) for the save.

On Thursday the Colts and WhiteWings play two, as two righties matchup up for game one of the double-header when Steve MacFarland (0-1, 10.61) faces Eric Blackwell (1-0, 0.75) and Colts right-hander Brian Henschel (1-2, 6.38) squares off against fellow righty Luis Chirinos (0-0, 0.00) in game two. An early start time with game one beginning with the pre-game show at 6:00 and the first pitch set for 6:05, catch all the Colts action on 101.9 FM "The Fire".
