EDINBURG, Texas---The Edinburg Roadrunners split the four-game series with the McAllen Thunder after a 6-4 loss Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

The Thunder (8-8) got the scoring started in the top of the second with some help from the Roadrunners defense. James Lilley reached on a fielding error and then came into score on an RBI double by D.J. Dixon. Adam Matos reached on an infield single but the throwing error allowed Dixon to score and Matos to move to second. Zach Mandelblatt then hit a two-out RBI single scoring Matos giving McAllen the 3-0 lead.

A pair of RBI singles by Yaibel Tamayo and Matos in the top of the third pushed the McAllen lead to 5-0.

In the top of the fourth, an RBI double by Lilley allowed Wilson Batista to score from second extending the Thunder's lead 6-0.

The Roadrunners (5-11) got their runs in the bottom of the fifth against starter Rashad Ford. Brandon Wilkerson reached on an error and then moved over to third on a single by R.J. Harris. Jamar Hill drove in Wilkerson with an RBI fielder's choice but throwing error allowed Harris to score from third. After back-to-back walks to Wellington Dotel and Osiel Flores loaded the bases, Stantrel Smith followed with a two-run single that allowed Hill and Dotel to score cutting the Thunder's lead 6-4.

That would be all the scoring as both bullpens would not allow a run the rest of the way.

Frank James (1-0) picked up his first win of the season after pitching three and a third innings and keeping the Roadrunners off the scoreboard.

Luis Matamoros pitched a perfect ninth for his fourth save of the season giving the Thunder the 6-4 victory and the split of the series.
