
Roadrunners Outlast Thunder In Extras

EDINBURG, Texas---The Edinburg Roadrunners outlasted the Mcallen Thunder in 12 innings for the 5-4 victory Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium
The Roadrunners (5-10) got on the board in the bottom of the first. Nick Aranda got on with a walk and then moved to second on a balk. After Gabe Memmert hit an infield single, Aranda came into score on an RBI ground out by Wellington Dotel gave Edinburg the 1-0 lead.
The Thunder (7-8) tied things at one in the top of the third when a fielding error allowed Yordanys Perez to score from third.
Two more errors in the top of the fourth set the table for Mike Goss's two-run double that gave McAllen the 3-1 lead.
R.J. Harris started the bottom of the fifth with a single and then Brandon Wilkerson followed with an RBI triple that allowed Harris to making 3-2 Thunder.
Edinburg tied the game in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single by C.J. Beatty that allowed Dotel making it a 3-3 ball game.
After McAllen took the lead on an RBI ground out by Dan Coury, the Roadrunners tied it once again with a solo home run by Osiel Flores tying the game at four.
The game remained tied until the 12th inning. Dotel reached on an error and then stole second base. He was then allowed third base after fielder interference and then came in to score when Stantrel Smith in an RBI single giving the Roadrunners the 5-4 victory.
Julio Castro (1-0) picked up the win after pitching a scoreless top of the 12th and Jason Oatman (1-3) got the run after allowing the winning run.
The Roadrunners and Thunder will play game four of their four-game series Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Ryan Harris is expected to start for Edinburg with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
