OHL Owen Sound Attack

Joe Tomato's Weekend Preview - Week 26

March 12, 2019 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Attack head into the final week of the regular season looking to solidify their spot in the standings after clinching their place in the playoffs on Saturday night. This is the Joe Tomato's Weekend Preview. Attack fans can get half priced wings and appetizers when they head to Joe Tomato's with their ticket stub after every Attack home game.

Mack Guzda gives his thoughts first on the team heading into the final week of the season:

Just one win away from 30 wins for the 9th straight year, Owen Sound heads into a Wednesday night matchup against their Highway 26 rivals, the Barrie Colts. The Colts are in the thick of a battle for the playoffs in the Eastern Conference, currently three points behind the North Bay Battalion heading into their matchup on Tuesday evening. The Attack will have to be ready on home ice to defend against a hungry team desperate for two points. Ryan Suzuki has been leading the charge all season long, and rookie netminder Jet Greaves has come on strong in the new year to return the Colts back into the playoff race.

The season ends with a home and home matchup against the Kitchener Rangers. The Attack will be hard pressed to catch up to the Rangers, but they will need two wins in two days if they hope to regain the 5th seed in the Western Conference and a first-round playoff series against the Guelph Storm. The Rangers come into the week 6-4 in their past ten games, with forward Greg Meireles on a 17-game point streak. Joseph Garreffa and Jonathan Yantsis have also found success against the Attack this season. We'll first meet the Rangers on Friday night at the Kitchener Auditorium, and return home for the final game of the regular season at the Bayshore on Saturday night.

Notes: Saturday night will be our overage tribute night to Trent Bourque and Zach Poirier. Mark Woolley is poised to return to the lineup on Friday night after serving a two-game suspension.
