Steelheads fans your team is headed to the PLAYOFFS! Despite Saturday's loss in Erie, Barrie's 5-4 home loss to the Peterborough Petes meant that the Steelheads clinched their fourth consecutive year of playoff hockey. The team currently occupies the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference, tied at 67 points with the Peterborough Petes, but is in possession of one game in hand.

The tight Eastern Conference standings means the Trout have three potential potential first round opponents. The two through four seeds at the moment are occupied by the Niagara IceDogs, Sudbury Wolves and Oshawa Generals.

Here's how the Steelheads have fared against each so far this season;

Niagara IceDogs: The Steelheads lead the season series 3-2 and will play a potential first round playoff preview against the IceDogs on Thursday March 14th at the Meridian Centre. The IceDogs are led by Jason Robertson the league's second leading-scorer this season has recorded 106 points in 59 games.

Sudbury Wolves: The Steelheads lost the season the series with Wolves 4-2, but were 2-1 at home. The Wolves are backstopped by Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, the Finnish netminder is top five in MIN (2944), GAA (2.45), SAV % (.921), and Wins (36) and and recently set a franchise record for shutouts in a season (6), tied for the most in the OHL this season.

Oshawa Generals: The Trout were edged in the season by Generals 3-1, their only win coming at home on Friday December 7th by a score of 4-2. The Generals are led by Serron Noel, a Florida Panthers 2018 second round draft-pick who has tallie 32 goals and 44 assists so far this season.
