Owen Sound Attack News Release


The Owen Sound Attack gets set for a pair of home games this weekend when the Erie Otters and Niagara Ice Dogs visit the Bayshore. The stakes are high with playoff positioning on the line for all three teams. The Attack will play host to the Otters on Saturday, February 23 at 7:30pm and the Ice Dogs on Sunday, February 24 at 2pm.

The Attack and Otters will do battle on Saturday night with the Attack looking to avenge a pair of losses in Erie in Mid-January. The Attack will look to veteran players like Trent Bourque and Maksim Sushko to elevate their play and handle the likes of rookie defence scoring leader Jamie Drysdale and Otters leading scorer Gera Poddubnyi. The Otters come into the weekend playing .500 hockey over the past two weeks against some of the leagues top teams.

Saturday night the Attack has teamed up with the Canadian Mental Health Association and Teachers Life to promote mental health awareness. Be sure to stop by their table in the south concourse and listen for special messages from the Attack themselves.

After a short turnaround the Attack will meet the Ice Dogs for the final Core Partners Group at Investment Planning Counsel Sunday of the season. The Ice Dogs are currently in a heated battle for the top spot in the Ontario Hockey League's Central division. The Attack will look for a complete team effort to ground the Ice Dogs top two lines that have accounted for 25 goals so far in February. The Attack will look to an emerging top line of Barret Kirwin, Kaleb Pearson and Sushko to solve Ice Dogs goaltender Stephen Dhillon.

Don't forget that Sunday's game will be filled with lots of fun things for your family. Our friends at the Core Partners Group at Investment Planning Counsel will be handing out coupons for a free small popcorn to the first 200 kids in attendance, kids 12 and under can fill out a ballot in the south concourse for an exclusive VIP Meet and Greet with their favourite player following the game. Everyone in attendance is invited to skate with the team following the game. Please remember that everyone entering the ice surface must be wearing skates and any child 12 and under must be wearing a CSA certified helmet as well. If you do not have skates you will be able to go to the benches to get autographs.
