Jennings Named League Pitcher of the Week

August 29, 2011 - American Association (AA)
Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas -- If Grand Prairie AirHogs pitcher Jason Jennings's next start is as good as his last one, the AirHogs will be in good shape in Game 1 of their playoff series on Thursday night. In the meantime, Jennings can look back at his last regular season start as one that earned him American Association Pitcher of the Week honors, as selected by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the American Association.

Last Friday in Shreveport, Jennings pitched his first complete game of the year, shutting out the Shreveport-Bossier Captains on just three hits and three walks, while striking out eight batters as the AirHogs won 4-0.

Jennings allowed two runners to reach base in an inning only once to improve to 10-2 on the season, lowering his ERA to 3.59 in the process.

The righty joins teammate Josh Rainwater and former AirHog Greg Smith as Pitcher of the Week winners this season, as they won the award in each of the season's first two weeks.

The AirHogs conclude the 2011 regular season with one final game against Amarillo on Monday, August 29, at 7:05 p.m. It is Frank Lucchesi Night, as the AirHogs will be honoring the former Texas Rangers manager. Former players will be on hand to sign autographs and mingle, and several great prizes will be given away, including a Michael Young autographed baseball. All games are available with live, free streaming video on ustream.tv. Individual game tickets are on sale and can be purchased by calling 972-504-9383 or by visiting www.airhogsbaseball.com.
