Jedd Gyorko Promoted To Triple-A Tucson

San Antonio - Missions infielder Jedd Gyorko has been promoted to the Triple-A Tucson Padres and will join the team today in Tucson.

Gyorko, San Diego's 6th-rated prospect according to Baseball America, hit .262 (34x130) in 34 games this season for San Antonio with six home runs, 17 RBI and 18 runs scored.

In 2011, the 23-year old native of Morgantown, WV hit a combined .333 (192x576) in 140 games between Class-A Lake Elsinore and San Antonio with 47 doubles, 25 homers, 114 RBI and 119 run scored. He led all of minor league baseball in hits and total bases (318), while finishing second in RBI, tied for third in runs and fifth in doubles.

Taking Gyorko's spot on the roster is infielder Jake Blackwood who joins the Missions today from extended spring training.

Blackwood is a 26-year old native of Kansas City, MO who was chosen by San Diego in the 2010 Rule V Draft from the San Francisco Giants.

Last season, Blackwood played in 131 games between Class-A Fort Wayne and Lake Elsinore and hit .269 (134x498) with 36 doubles, three triples, 17 home runs, 76 RBI, 60 runs scored and nine stolen bases.
