Dunedin Blue Jays News Release

Dunedin, FL - The Dunedin Blue Jays are proud to announce their first annual "Fight for a Cure Night" was a huge success! Together with the American Cancer Society, Bikers Raising Awareness (B.R.A), local Dunedin merchants, and current Blue Jays Corporate Partners, the Dunedin Blue Jays raised over $5,000 towards fighting the battle against cancer.

The players themselves were also part of the night's fundraising efforts, as they wore special purple jerseys to honor those affected by the disease. Fans were able to pre-purchase the customized jerseys with part of the proceeds going back to the American Cancer Society. Jersey sales raised over $1,400.

The biggest fundraiser of the night was a silent auction that included various pieces of sports memorabilia and some great prizes donated by local businesses. All in all, the auction items brought in $3,000 to be donated to the American Cancer Society.

In addition, Bikers Raising Awareness (B.R.A.) took in $520 in additional fundraising efforts thanks to a 50/50 raffle. Also, fundraising tickets sold by the Blue Jays raised $549 to be distributed back to both B.R.A. and the American Cancer Society.

This was the second event that the Blue Jays did in conjunction with the American Cancer Society in 2010, as Dunedin Stadium was once again the host site for this year's Relay For Life event back in April.
