De San Miguel's Blast Leads Miracle in 5-1 Win

JUPITER, FL (August 24th, 2010) - Miracle starter Bruce Pugh allowed only one run over six solid innings of work, and Allan De San Miguel cracked a second inning three-run home run as the Miracle downed the Cardinals 5-1 on Tuesday night. With the win, Fort Myers moves within 3 1/2 games of first-place Palm Beach, who holds a one-game lead over Bradenton in the FSL South standings.

Pugh (7-10) picked up the victory, allowing only three hits to Palm Beach in his six inning performance. Cardinals designated-hitter C.J. Beatty hit a two-out solo home run in the fifth for their only run on the night. Jhon Garcia kept the Cards' off the board in the final three innings - picking up his second save of the year.

De San Miguel blasted his fourth home run of the year in a rough second inning for Cardinals starter Scott Schneider. Deibinson Romero and Nate Hanson both singled to begin the inning, before De San Miguel rocked a ball over the left-field wall to put the Miracle ahead 3-0. Schnieder (2-7) only lasted three innings in the loss, also surrendering an RBI single to Yangervis Solarte in his final frame.

Brian Dozier slugged a solo home run in the seventh inning against reliever Joel Pichardo to put Fort Myers up 5-1. It was his third long ball of the season.

Romero, Hanson, and Solarte all finished with two hits apiece as the Miracle outhit Palm Beach 10-to-5.

Fort Myers improves to just 3-10 against the Cardinals this year, but have won three of their last four match-ups dating back to the end of June. They will play five more times this season, wrapping up their play at Roger Dean Stadium in the next two nights. First pitch on Wednesday is set for 7:05 p.m.
