April 26, 2006 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud members of the United Hockey League, announce that forward Jason Deitsch has been named the UHL's Easton Rookie of the Year.
Deitsch, who was honored earlier this month as the K-Wings' Kalamazoo Public Schools Rookie of the Year, led all UHL Rookies in scoring with 87 points (38 goals, 49 assists).
The K-Wings' Keyser Insurance Group Leading Scorer Award winner led the UHL in shooting percentage (24.5%) and went on a league rookie high 20-game point streak. Deitsch finished the year putting up a mind-boggling 63 points in his last 45 games.
The league's top rookie was honored on Monday, as a member of the UHL All-Rookie Team. Deitsch was sensational for the K-Wings this season, setting the team's UHL franchise for power-play goals in a season with 18.
Deitsch's dominance has continued in this year's postseason. In three games, Deitsch is tied for third place among all players in scoring with five points (2 goals, 3 assists).
Deitsch will be back on the ice tonight, as the K-Wings continue "Destination: Colonial Cup" against the Motor City Mechanics in Game Four of their Best of Seven Series. Kalamazoo leads the series three games to none.
Fans that want to watch Game Four, can come to the Icehouse Bar and Grille, located in the upper level of The Annex. Face-off from The Garage will be 7:30 p.m.
