
Jaso Named 'Topps' in New York-Penn League

FISHKILL, NY [August 18, 2004] â It was announced today by The Topps Company, in conjuction with Minor League Baseball that Hudson Valley Renegades C/1B John Jaso is July winner of the Topps' Player of the Month award for the New York-Penn League.
Jaso (20) of McKinleyville, CA, is a player who found things better the second time around. Returning to Renegades, where he hit .277 last year, the catcher/first baseman has been well over .300 all season, including .333 in July. Jaso was drafted in 2003 by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays out of Southwestern (CA) Junior College in the 12th round. For the season, Jaso is batting .301 with 13 doubles and 20 rbi's while scoring 24 times.
"Its tremendous that The Topps Company and Minor League Baseball have recognized John for his accomplishments." said Renegades manager Dave Howard. "He's been solid for us all season and we expect that he'll continue to do the same the rest of the year."
