Windsor Spitfires News Release

(Windsor) The Windsor Spitfires announced today that Goalie Jaroslav Pavelka is the Tecumseh & South Walkerville Player of the Week for the week ending December 4th. The netminder was stellar in his two starts for the Spits over the weekend by stopping a total of 77 shots and posting an impressive .928 save percentage. Pavelka made 31 saves in a losing effort Saturday night against Belleville and got the nod again on Sunday where he took advantage of his opportunity by making 46 saves and backed the Spits to a 5-3 victory over Kingston.

The 18-year-old Czech Republic native was acquired via trade from the Niagara Ice Dogs earlier this season and is now starting to settle into his role nicely. Pavelka has shown steady improvement in his short time with the Spits and has proven to be a reliable alternative option to veteran starter John Cullen.

His steady play between the pipes is yet another reason why the Spitfires are confident heading into the future.
