Fort Worth Cats News Release

Fort Worth closer Jeff Jamnik picked up his 19th save of the season despite allowing two runs in the ninth inning on a double from Rio Grande Valley second baseman Roberto Rodriguez in the Cats' 3-2 win over the WhiteWings on Monday at LaGrave Field in Fort Worth, TX. In Jamnik's 29 appearances before Monday night, he had not given up more than one run in a game and had only allowed runs in three outings and raised his ERA over 1.00 for the first time all season (1.21).

Cats' starter Blake Parry had no trouble with the WhiteWings batters in his seven innings of work. Parry allowed no runs on four hits and struck out three Rio Grande batters.

Chuck Caufield was the offensive highlight for Fort Worth, hitting 2-for-4 with a run scored and two runs batted in on a sixth inning triple that gave the Cats a 3-0 lead.

With the win, the Cats picked up a game in the standings on Rio Grande and only trail the WhiteWings by one game and are three and a half games behind first-place Edinburg. The two teams will play the series finale on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. at LaGrave Field. Tickets can be purchased online at FWCats.com or by phone at (817) 332-CATS.
