Abilene Prairie Dogs News Release
SAN ANGELO, TX -- Yet another San Angelo Colt is shifting clubhouses prior to a game with the Abilene Prairie Dogs at Foster Field. The Colts traded left-handed pitcher/designated hitter David Phillips to the Prairie Dogs prior to Monday night's game in San Angelo. The Colts will receive future consideration in return.
Phillips joins K.C. Judge, Adam De La Garza, and Jason Crosland as players traded from San Angelo to Abilene on the same day as a scheduled meeting between the same squads at Foster Field. The Prairie Dogs acquired Crosland prior to Saturday's game and the third baseman retired before Sunday's night's contest.
Phillips appeared on the hill 24 times in relief for the Colts this season, posting a 1-2 record with a 6.56 ERA. In 352/3 innings pitched, the southpaw allowed 44 hits and 25 walks while compiling 33 strikeouts.
Drafted by the Mets in the 45th round in 2008, Phillips also owns 24 hits in 107 career at-bats across three professional seasons. Phillips was an everyday position player during his time at the University of Mississippi in 2009-10. He will be in the Prairie Dogs' starting lineup this evening as the DH.
Tonight the Prairie Dogs take the field for the 24th and final time in San Angelo. The game starts at 7:05 and you can hear the call on 106.9 KLGD or on the internet at abileneprairiedogs.com beginning with the First Financial Pregame Show at 6:55.
