San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- The Colts announced Monday they have re-signed lefthanded pitcher Jose Sanchez and traded fellow southpaw David Phillips to the Abilene Prairie Dogs in exchange for future considerations.

Sanchez was originally signed by San Angelo on June 14. He went 1-3 with an 8.10 earned-run average in 10 starts. Sanchez then got traded to the Laredo Lemurs of the independent American Association on August 6.

Sanchez was released by Laredo without making an appearance. Now he comes back to the Colts as a reliever.

In order to make room for Sanchez on the active roster, the Colts have also traded Phillips. He was on the Opening Night roster, and went 1-2 with a 6.56 earned-run average in 24 relief appearances.

A former Frontier League outfielder, Phillips also hit .429 in two games as a position player this year. This season marked Phillips's first as a pitcher. Now in his third professional season, Phillips has a career .224 batting average with seven RBIs in 59 games.

The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
