Jammers Suffer Second Straight Setback To Auburn, 3-0

AUBURN, N.Y. - The Jamestown Jammers suffered their second straight defeat at the hands of the Auburn Doubledays, 3-0, Monday night at Falcon Park in New York-Pennsylvania League baseball.
After erupting for nine runs in six innings last night, the Jammers offense slumped tonight as the team failed to string hits together. Despite the loss, Jamestown (15-10) maintained its one-game lead over Mahoning Valley, and the Doubledays are also now just a game back.
Jamestown had a chance to take an early lead on the Doubledays yet again in the top of the fourth inning when Terrence Dayleg doubled with one out to place runners at second and third. However, a strike out and fly out ended the Jamestown threat to keep the score tied.
The Doubledays would capitalize on Jamestown's failure to score with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Matt Skole roped a double and scored on an Angelberth Montilla single.
Montilla then came in on a single by Caleb Ramsey after stealing second base.
The Jammers would threaten again in the sixth as the first two runners reached base, but a fly out and double play ended that opportunity. A twin killing in the seventh inning would also ruin Jamestown's attempt to rally.
In the bottom of the seventh, Auburn would strike again as Connor Rowe singled and stole second base. He scored on a fielding error to make it 3-0.
The Jammers couldn't mount a comeback attempt in the ninth inning to give Matthew Neil his second loss of the season. He went five innings, gave up six hits and two earned runs with six strikeouts.
Outfielder Brent Keys extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a pair of singles, while Jobduan Morales had two hits including a double for the purple and green. Eddie Rodriguez also had a two bagger.
Montilla paced Auburn with a 3- day with three hits. Skole belted a double and four other Doubledays had hits. Manny Rodriguez got the win to improve to 1-1 after tossing five shutout frames.
The Jammers will have their first off day of the season Tuesday before kicking off an eight-game home stand by hosting the Hudson Valley Renegades Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.
