NORWICH, CT - After dropping the opening contest of the three-game series to the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Connecticut Tigers came back to tie the series yesterday and earn a series win with a 5-3 victory on Monday night at Dodd Stadium.

The Tigers got a strong pitching performance from Wilsen Palacios, who had his longest outing of the season (6.1 innings) and picked up his first win of the year. He surrendered three runs, only two earned, on five hits, while striking out two.

The Palacios win came after he had given up 11 earned runs over his last 3.2 innings over two starts.

Connecticut took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Eugenio Suarez, who finished the night 4-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs, followed P.J. Polk's leadoff single with a base hit of his own. He advanced to second on a double steal, as Polk was thrown out at third. Suarez then stole third and scored as the throw down to third by the Cyclones catcher Nelfi Zapata was wide of the bag and went into left field.

The Tigers would add on two runs in the third on a two-run triple by Suarez.

Brooklyn would bring the deficit to 3-2 with a two-run fifth, but Connecitcut would get a run back in the fifth and one more insurance run in the sixth to go on for the win.

Chris Hilliard suffered the loss for Brooklyn, while Daniel Bennett picked up his fifth save of the year.

The Tigers hit the road for an eight-game road trip, the longest trip of the season, beginning with a three-game set in Mahoning Valley, which starts on Wednesday night against Scrappers. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM.
