Cutters Rally for Win Number 12

July 11, 2011 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

GAME HIGHLIGHTS: The Williamsport Crosscutters overcame a 4-0 deficit to Mahoning Valley on Monday night, scoring seven unanswered runs to put away the Scrappers 7-4.

The Scrappers took a first-inning lead for the fifth time in six games against Williamsport, using four hits to go up 2-0 off Cutters starter Austin Wright. They added two more in the fourth off Cody Fick on a hit, two walks, and an error to make it 4-0.

The Cutters knotted the game at four apiece in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs in the inning, Luis Unda ripped an RBI single to left field, setting the stage for a two-out, three-run homer by Kelly Dugan one batter later. It was Dugan's first round tripper of the year. Dugan added a sacrifice fly in the seventh for his fourth RBI of the game to make it 5-4, and an eighth-inning, two-out homer left by Taylor Black increased the Cutters lead to 7-4.

Cutters reliever Austin Brough earned his first win of the year with three shutout innings to close out the match.

Williamsport travels to Lowell on Tuesday and begins a 3-game series against the Spinners on Wednesday. Every Cutters matchup can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com
