James Sixsmith Named ECHL Player Of The Week

Anchorage, Alaska - The ECHL announced today that Utah forward James Sixsmith has been named the Sher-wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for February 22-28.

Sixsmith led the league in scoring with two goals and seven assists for nine points in four games last week. He totaled one goal and three assists Tuesday in Utah's 5-4 win over Stockton and totaled one goal and two assists Friday in Ontario.

The second-year Utah forward enters the week with a team season-high nine-game point streak (six goals, 11 assists), scoring in each game since returning from Pneumonia February 9.

In total, the 25-year-old has 16 goals and 26 assists for 42 points in 25 games this year with Utah and has also played 25 combined games with Bridgeport and Milwaukee of the AHL totaling two goals and five assists.

On behalf of James Sixsmith, a case of pucks will be donated to a Utah youth hockey organization by Sher-wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-wood Hockey has donated more than 23,100 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.

Utah is in Alaska for games Wednesday and Thursday. Face-off both evenings is scheduled for 9:15 p.m.

Utah returns home Friday, March 12 to host Stockton at 7:05 p.m.
