BAKERSFIELD, January 27, 2012 - Seven players in double figures for Canton tonight proved to be the winning formula as Canton Charge (11-14) defeated the Bakersfield Jam (13-11) with the final score of 124-108.
Both teams battled to start the game as the Jam and the Charge exchanged the lead nine times and both teams had players in double-digit scoring to end the first. For the Jam, Juan Pattillo ended the first quarter with 11 points and TJ Campbell had 12 points for the Charge. Bakersfield started the second quarter with a five point lead (36-31) but couldn't hold on to it as Canton went on an 8-0 run with 4:17 left in the first half. The Jam gave up the most points in any half this season and trailed at halftime by a score of 69-63. In the third quarter, Canton extended their lead to as many as 14 points but Bakersfield fought back to begin the fourth cutting down the lead to just four (100-96) on a Jeremy Wise 3-pointer with 9:56 left in the game. The Charge finished the game on a 12-0 run defeating the Jam by sixteen points.
Osiris Eldridge led Bakersfield for the fourth straight game in scoring with 28 points and added 6 rebounds on the night. Juan Pattillo recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Renaldo Major finished the night with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Los Angeles Clippers assignee Eric Bledsoe recorded a double-double off the bench with 10 points and a game-high 10 assists.
All five starters for the Charge scored in double figures. TJ Campbell led the way with a game-high 31 points and 5 assists while Manny Harris had a double-double with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and dished out 7 assists on the night. Kyle Gibson scored 12 points, Luke Harangody recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and Dante Milligan finished the night with a double-double as well with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bakersfield Jam return to action next week Thursday, February 2, 2012 to face the Erie Bayhawks for the first time this season at 7:00 p.m. PT at the Jam Events Center.
