Erie sweeps weekend series against Skyforce

Erie, Pennsylvania - The Erie BayHawks (12-13) were able to close the month of January out on a positive note, taking both games in their weekend set against Sioux Falls. Keith McLeod led the charge with 25 points and six assists in his second game as a BayHawk.

Erie opened up a nine point advantage in the first quarter before Sioux Falls (7-19) was able to battle back and cut the lead to 24-21 at the end of the first frame. The Skyforce took their first lead of the weekend in the second quarter on a Trey Gilder dunk following an Erie turnover. The remainder of the second quarter was a see-saw battle and Erie took a one point lead into the break.

The second half belonged to Keith McLeod as he took over in the third quarter scoring 22 points. Behind McLeod's offensive showcase, the BayHawks took a 14 point advantage into the final frame. Sioux Falls did not give in, cutting the final deficit to five points, 98-93.

Kyle Goldcamp posted his third consecutive double-double (23 points and 12 rebounds) and D.J. Kennedy finished his excellent weekend with another strong effort (19 points, 14 rebounds). Tirrell Baines also contributed with a double digit scoring effort (15 points). Sioux Falls was paced by newly acquired big man, Keith Benson (24 points, 7 rebounds). Casey Mitchell added 22 points off the bench for the Skyforce and Gilder (17 points, 6 assists), Dominique Coleman (11 points, 8 rebounds), Patrick Ewing, Jr. (11 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds) also contributed with double digits in the scoring column.

Erie begins a west coast trip with a stop in Bakersfield for a Groundhog's Day match-up against the Jam while Sioux Falls continues their road trip with a stop in Springfield, also on February 2nd.
