Bakersfield Jam News Release
BAKERSFIELD - The Bakersfield Jam (3-5) defeated the Los Angeles D-Fenders (6-3) 100-96 Friday night at the Dignity Health Event Center. Terrico White led the Jam with 23 points, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
After scoring the first four points of the game, the Jam struggled to get an offensive rhythm going and trailed by 11 points midway through the first quarter. A late 12-3 run by Bakersfield had their deficit cut to four points to end the first period (32-28). The second remained a tight battle with Los Angeles holding a slight edge at halftime, 55-53.
Despite struggling from the field in the third (36.8% shooting), the Jam were able to keep pace with the D-Fenders and had it all tied up 78 entering the final frame. Bakersfield scored seven unanswered points to start the fourth and that would be key to the game as they never looked back after taking the lead. The D-Fenders fought back to make it a close and entertaining finish, but the Jam executed well on both ends on the floor in the final mutes to secure the home victory.
Earl Clark posted 21 points, six rebounds and five assists. Xavier Munford added a double-double with 21 points (4/6 3FGs), 10 assists and two steals. Mac Koshwal grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds.
Vander Blue paced Los Angeles with 23 points to go along with three steals. Malcolm Thomas registered a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Andre Ingram tallied 14 points. Josh Magette had a game-high 15 assists.
Both teams will head south and play against each other again tomorrow in Los Angeles. Tip-off is set at 6:30 p.m. PT.
