Mississippi RiverKings News Release

PEORIA, Ill. - David Jacobson stopped all 34 shots against as the Mississippi RiverKings (26-16-9) dropped their second-straight in Peoria against the Rivermen (36-12-3) in a 2-0 loss on Saturday night.

Peoria got on the board late in the first. With Sam Higgins serving a minor penalty for throwing equipment, Cody Dion's wrist shot from the left circle beat the glove of RiverKings' netminder Peter Di Salvo and put the Rivermen on top 1-0.

In the third, the RiverKings had an opportunity to tie it with 8:24 left. Max Cook was pulled down on a breakaway and awarded a penalty shot where his shot to the glove side of Rivermen netminder David Jacobson was denied by the pad of the Peoria goaltender.

With Matt Summers in the penalty box for high-sticking, the RiverKings pulled Di Salvo for the extra attacker. With the net empty, Alec Hagaman intercepted a pass in the neutral zone and slid it down the length of the ice to give Peoria their 2-0 victory.

Peter Di Salvo (12-5-4) stopped 32 of 33 shots against in the loss. David Jacobson (12-8-0) turned aside all 34 shots against in the win.

The RiverKings were held scoreless on all four power play opportunities while Peoria was 1-6 on the power play.

The RiverKings are back on home ice April 8 and 9 for their final home games of the regular season against the Pensacola Ice Flyers. Get tickets for both games starting at $10 per game by calling 662-342-1755 or visit riverkings.com for more information.
