Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

LAFAYETTE, La. - The Pensacola Ice Flyers (29-19-4) dropped Saturday night's contest with the Louisiana Ice Gators (23-25-4) by a score of 4-2.

After a scoreless first period, Louisiana broke the scoreless tie just a minute and 10 seconds into the second when Massimo Lamacchia scored his first goal as an IceGator. Joe Caveney tied the game up at one all with an even strength marker, assisted by Corey Banfield, 7:49 into the middle frame.

Jake Hauswirth put the IceGators back on top when he scored 2:19 into the third and Tyler Prendergast made it 3-1 at the 7:31 mark. As the Ice Flyers mounted a comeback, Adam Pawlick cut the lead down to 3-2 with a power play goal scored with 3:10 remaining in regulation. Jeremy Gates and Christian Horn had the assists. Ice Flyers head coach Rod Aldoff decided to pull goalie John McLean in exchange for an extra attacker but things didn't go as planned when Jordan Ciccarello scored an empty net goal to seal the 4-2 win.

McLean stopped 21 of the 24 shots Louisiana threw his way.

The Ice Flyers return to the Hangar for the final two home games of the regular season next weekend as they host the Huntsville Havoc as part of 20th Anniversary of Pensacola Hockey Weekend on Friday and Saturday. Former Pensacola Ice Pilots and Ice Flyers players will be present for both nights and Saturday's game will also be Fan Appreciation Night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
