ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (June 12, 2003) – Brandon Jackson went 3-5 with five RBI, including a grand slam in the fifth inning, to lead the Atlantic City Surf over the Nashua Pride, 11-8, on a rainy Thursday evening at the Sandcastle.

With the Surf down 6-3 in the fifth inning, Ric Johnson and Raul Marval led off with singles and Nashua starter John Roper pitched around Juan Thomas to walk the bases loaded for Jackson.

Jackson then crushed a Roper fastball over the left field wall for his second grand slam of the season, giving Atlantic City a 7-6 lead.

Thomas, making his season debut for the Surf and his first appearance in the Sandcastle since 1999, hit an RBI single in the sixth inning to put the Surf up 8-6. "The Large Human", as he is called by Surf fans, went 1-3 with two walks in the contest.

The Pride came back and tallied two runs in the seventh inning, then the rain drops came. The game was delayed for an hour and seven minutes due to rain.

After the delay, Trey Beamon singled in what would prove to be the winning run, as he plated Shane Monahan, who led off the inning with a double. The Surf would tag on two more runs to round out the scoring.

Surf closer Randi Mallard came on to pitch a scoreless ninth for his 10th save of the season.

Jackson extended his league-leading on-base streak to 29 consecutive games.

The Surf pounded out a season-high 17 hits, including three by Marval.

ON DECK: The Surf start a crucial three-game series with the first-place Camden Riversharks on Friday, June 13, at 6:35 p.m., at the Sandcastle. It will be a double promotion night as the Surf will give away the New AC Logo Hats to the first 1,500 fans sponsored by the Atlantic City International Airport. A spectacular fireworks show, sponsored by Pepsi, will follow the game.
