
Bears to Salute Negro Leagues at Old Timer's Day This Sunday

NEWARK, NJ, June 13-The Newark Bears professional baseball club will be holding its annual Old Timer's Day, while also celebrating Father's Day, this upcoming Sunday, June the 15th at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium.
The Bears will salute the Negro Leagues at Old Timer's Day this Sunday. Former Negro League stars Bobby Scott of the New York Black Yankees, Harold Gould of the Philadelphia Stars and Jim Robinson of the Kansas City Monarchs will be on hand to meet fans, sign autographs and throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Among the festivities scheduled for Sunday the 15th include performances by the G-Phi-G Ministries Choir, The Flamingoes, who are the First Place Winners of the 2003 Assumption College Drill Competition, and the David Aaron Orchestra.
The usual Family Fun Day activities will take place, as well, meaning that an autograph session with the Bears players will take place at 12:30 and that all children will be able to run the bases following that afternoon's Bears game against the Pennsylvania Road Warriors.
