Jacks Win See Saw Battle with New Mexico

(Odessa, TX) - Kory Karlander earned first star honors for his game winning goal at 10:27 of the third period as the Jackalopes topped New Mexico, 4-3, at the Ector County Coliseum on Friday night.

Kenny Bernard gave Odessa a 3-2 lead after scoring at 3:51 of the third period, but New Mexico tied it back up on a Christopher Robertson goal, his second of the game. Karlander's game winner came just :20 later.

Both teams exchanged goals in the second period when Odessa's Sebastien Thinel gave the Jacks a 2-1 lead but New Mexico's Aaron MacInnis tied it back up with a power play goal, 2-2, entering the third period.

Odessa's Phil Plante and New Mexico's Christopher Robertson each scored first period power play goals.

The Jackalopes continue their home stand Saturday night against the visiting Tulsa Oilers. Game time is 7:05 PM and there will be a jersey auction after the game to support June Daniel in her fight against breast cancer as part of the "Pink at the Rink" weekend.
