
Odessa See-Saws To Victory Over New Mexico

[ODESSA, Tex.]-In a physical battle, the Scorpions fell to division leading Odessa 4-3 on Friday night. The Jackalopes' win gave them a sweep of the home-and-home series.
The Scorpions started the scoring while on a two-man advantage. Chris Robertson's shot slid along the ice and into the net.
Odessa tied the game as Sebastien Thinel found the back door to be open. Philippe Plante was on the receiving end of a pass that had eyes, and scored for the seventh time this season.
The Jackalopes grabbed their first lead of the game off a Scorps turnover. Jeff Pierce skated into the zone with a two-on-one advantage and fed Thinel who scored at the 13:01 mark.
New Mexico was rewarded with a late second period power play. Aaron MacInnis took a wrist shot from the high slot, tying the game at two through two periods.
Early in the third period Kenny Bernard scored his third goal in two games giving Odessa back a one goal lead. Robertson scored for the second time in the game, 10:07 into the final period. One the next shift, Kory Karlander scored the game winning goal on a two-on-one break.
American Cancer Night and Faith Night arrive Saturday. Special jerseys will be worn with a post game auction to benefit the Relay for Life. Puck drops inside the Santa Ana Star Center at 7:15 p.m.
