The Bucks look to carry their momentum from Wednesday's 5-4 come-from-behind shootout win over Texas into Saturday's game with the Riverkings.
Laredo trailed the Brahmas 4-1 Wednesday, and scored four straight times to take the victory. After Alex Goupil tied the game with 1:33 left in regulation, rookies Mike Gooch and Ryan Gibb sealed the win in the shootout. Gooch scored the game-winning goal, while Gibb stopped all four of the Brahmas shootout attempts.
The Bucks would like to use some of their home magic on the road, as they are just 1-5-3 in their last nine road games, including 0-1-1 against Northern teams in that stretch.
Laredo will be making their first appearance at the Desoto Civic Center since November 2006, when they beat the Riverkings 5-4. The Bucks are 3-3 all-time in Mississippi.
Jeff Bes currently leads the CHL in scoring with 58 points (13-45=58).
The Bucks expect that Rookie All-Star Darryl Smith will be back in the line-up Saturday. Smith has missed the teams last two games with a lower-body injury.
Smith currently leads all CHL rookies in scoring with 44 points (21-23=44).
The Bucks have placed defensemen Steve Weidlich and Jaye Judd on the 14-day IR, as they both recover from minor injuries.
Defenseman Vincent Zaore will be back in the line-up Saturday for the first time since the Bucks November 25th loss to the Riverkings. Zaore has been rehabbing a lower body injury, and could come off of the IR as early as Saturday.
The Riverkings are in a three-team race for the Northeast Division's top spot. The Riverkings, along with Oklahoma City and Bossier-Shreveport are all within two points of each other for first in the Division.
Mississippi is coming off of an 0-1-1 weekend, where they dropped two home games.
The Riverkings host Rio Grande Valley Friday night, before taking on the Bucks Saturday.
Louis Dumont leads the âKings in scoring with 35 points (13-22=35).
The Bucks will travel to play Bossier-Shreveport Monday night at 7:05pm.
The Bucks will return home next Friday January 30th, when they host the Killer Bees in a Southeast Division match up. Call 718-BUCK (2825) for tickets.
