Jacks Outlast Bucks for 3-1 Win

(Odessa, TX) - Jeff Pierce scored a pair of third period goals to give the Odessa Jackalopes a 3-1 over the Laredo Bucks on Friday night at the Ector County Coliseum.

Tied 1-1 entering period three, Pierce broke the tie with a power play goal at 4:10 after splitting a pair of Laredo defenders and lifting the puck just under the crossbar to make it a 2-1 Jacks edge. With :38 remaining in regulation Pierce also added an empty net goal to give Odessa the two goal lead, and 3-1 final.

Both teams traded goals in the second period as Brent Cullaton put Laredo on the board first with a slap shot from the left circle at 6:05. Odessa answered back as a bad angle shot by Josh Chase snuck past Bucks' goalie, Sebastien Centomo, at 15:16 to make it a 1-1 tie. Kory Karlander and Kenny Bernard had the assists on the Chase goal.

Game two of the Jackalopes' three game weekend continues tomorrow when the team travels to North Richland Hills, TX to face the Texas Brahmas for the final time this season. Game time is 7:05 PM.
