Jacks Ink Left-handed Rookie; Trade Thomas

Bangor, ME- The Bangor Lumberjacks, a proud member of the Northeast League, announced today that they have signed rookie LHP Matt Scheuing out of Millersville (PA) University. The Jacks also traded LHP Donnie Thomas to the New Jersey Jackals to complete an earlier trade that sent C Mikaela Dworken to the Lumberjacks.

A resident of Lancaster, PA, Scheuing went 3-4 with a 6.44 ERA in his senior season with the Mauraders, making 12 appearances, 7 of them starts. The twenty-two year old struck out 33 in 36.1 innings pitched. Matt was signed after trying out for manager Kash Beauchamp and pitching coach Kevin Pincavitch prior to the Lumberjacks 10-1 win over the Elmira Pioneers Wednesday night.

Thomas was 2-3 with a 5.64 ERA in 24 appearances out of the Lumberjacks pen. Thomas had on e save and 19 strike outs in 22.1 innings pitched. With the addition of RHP Orlando Woodards earlier in the day, the Lumberjacks had to move an LS-4 from the roster. Thomas completes the trade for C Mikaela Dworken, who the Lumberjacks acquired over the past weekend from New Jersey.

The Lumberjacks are back at Mahaney Diamond on Sunday August 3 to begin a seven game home stand. Sunday, August 3 is WEZQ 92.9 FM Family Fun Day meaning that fans have the opportunity to purchase a Jack Pack, which includes four reserved tickets to the game, four hot dogs, four programs, a pre-game ball toss on the field and a post game running of the bases and party piñata courtesy of Cumulus Broadcasting.
