Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
Odessa Jackalopes forward Mike Rutter scored two goals, and in the process, provided the winning margin in Odessa's 3-1 win over the Fort Worth Brahmas Friday night from the Ector County Coliseum in Odessa.
Rutter, the Jackalopes leader in points, opened the scoring in the game
with a shorthanded goal 4:12 into the first period. The Brahmas fought
back to tie the game midway through the second period when right wing Joey
Bastien scored an unassisted tally at the 7:49 mark. Odessa, however,
regained the advantage at the 13:01 mark of the second when Rutter netted
a powerplay goal for his second tally of the game.
The Brahmas would look for the equalizer in the third period, but could
not get anything past Odessa netminder Mike Gorman. The Jacks added an
insurance goal and set the final margin of 3-1 when forward Jeff Goldie
scored at the 14:47 mark of the third period.
Gorman got the win in net for the Jacks, stopping 34 of the 35 Brahmas
shots he faced in the game. Tyler Nilsson took the loss in net for Fort
Worth, allowing the three Jacks goals on 37 shots.
The loss, Fort Worth's second consecutive after winning three games in a
row, drops the Brahmas record to 12-22-6 on the season. Fort Worth will
look to get back on the winning track this Sunday, Jan. 25, when they
travel to Austin to take on the Ice Bats at 3:00 p.m. The game will be
broadcast live on KTFW 1460 A.M. by the Brahmas with the pregame show
beginning at 2:45 p.m.
