Jackals Trade Kotary To Quad City Before Deadline

Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today that they have traded rookie defenseman Sean Kotary to the Quad City Mallards in exchange for cash considerations.
The Jackals have reached an agreement with the Quad City Mallards, sending rookie defenseman Sean Kotary to the western Illinois-based club, in exchange for cash considerations, a deal that was concluded several hours prior to the 3:00 pm UHL Trading Deadline.
"Sean Kotary was a young man of great character that we liked very much here," said Jackals Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations Perry Florio. "However, with the addition of defenseman Brett Angel through a separate deal today and the possibility of adding more college players in the coming week, we felt we could afford to move Sean to the Quad Cities. We wish him the best of luck with his new team."
Kotary appeared in 10 games for the Jackals since he was acquired by Elmira from Port Huron in a trade on February 10th. He scored 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists), had 2 penalty minutes and was -7 as a member of the Elmira blue line crew. His one goal for the Jackals was his first professional goal, a power play goal scored on Friday, February 17th against the Danbury Trashers. On the season as a whole, between Port Huron and Elmira, the former Oswego State defenseman has 19 points (1 goal, 18 assists) and 44 penalty minutes.
The Jackals are back in action on Wednesday March 13th for Fan Appreciation Day against the Richmond Riverdogs for a 7:05 pm face off at the First Arena. Ticket prices for the game have been slashed to just $5 a ticket for every seat in the arena. Sodexho has also provided a big discount on concessions for beer, hot dogs, soft drinks and popcorn.
