Jackals Sunk Late by Walleye, 4-3

Toledo, Ohio - The Elmira Jackals (19-4-5-0) fell 4-3 to the Toledo Walleye (16-18-2-1) at the Huntington Center on Friday night. Ryan Stokes scored the game-winning goal for the Walleye with just under three minutes remaining in the contest.

Mike Hedden backhanded a puck in at 10:08 of the first period past Jackals goaltender Marco Cousineau to make it 1-0, while Tyler Doig snuck a shot through Cousineau's pads at 18:39 to extend Toledo's lead to 2-0.

Michael Dubuc, playing in his first game with the Jackals since November 24, wristed in a puck from the left wing circle at 10:51 of the second period to bring the Jackals to within a goal, 2-1. Dubuc's tally was his 12th in 15 games with Elmira this season.

Randy Rowe backhanded a puck off of a skate and into the net at the 14:06 mark of the second to reclaim the two-goal advantage for Toledo, 3-2.

Elmira battled back with a pair of goals in the second and third. R.J. Anderson found Brock McBride on a long pass for a breakaway, with McBride scoring on a backhand, forehand deke at 18:30 to make it 3-2 entering the third period. In the third, A.J. Perry tipped in a loose puck in the crease on a chaotic scramble in front to tie the game with 5:47 left in regulation.

The game was not tied for long though, as Stokes' blue-line shot beat Cousineau stick side with 2:40 to go in the game to give the Walleye the 4-3 win.

Cousineau, who fell to 12-7-4-0 in the loss, made 25 saves. Walleye goaltender Joe Palmer improved to 7-9-0-0 with a 30-save performance.

The Jackals and the Walleye go at it again on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Huntington Center.
