Jackals Sign Tejeda, Trade White

Little Falls, NJ - On Sunday afternoon, the New Jersey Jackals announced the signing of first baseman Juan Tejeda. To make room on the roster for Tejeda, the team traded first baseman Scott White to the Pensacola Pelicans of the American Association for a player to be named later.

Tejeda spent last season in the Philadelphia Phillies organization with the Double-A Reading Phillies. In 103 games for Reading, the 25-year-old batted .248 with ten home runs and 61 RBIs. Tejeda's best season came in 2004 when he hit a career-high 23 home runs while finishing fourth in the Eastern League with 92 RBIs for the Erie Sea Wolves in the Detroit Tigers system.

The Dominican Republic native will be in uniform for the Jackals for tonight's contest against the Ottawa Rapidz.

In nine games this season for New Jersey, White was batting .206 with a home run and eight RBIs.

The Jackals complete their four-game series against the Ottawa Rapidz tonight at 5:05 p.m. They host Les Capitales de Quebec in a three game set beginning on Monday, June 2nd.
