New Jersey Jackals News Release

Little Falls, NJ - The New Jersey Jackals dropped their second straight game to the New Haven County Cutters, and this one was lopsided. The final score was 9-2.

With two outs in the bottom of the second inning, the Cutters strung together a two-out rally, capped off by Doug Vroman's RBI single. It put New Haven up 1-0.

The Cutters added two more runs in the third, off Raul Valdez. Back-to-back RBI singles by Orlando Encarnacion and Thomari Story-Harden made a 3-0 advantage.

New Jersey finally touched up Cutters' starter Jarrett Stawarz in the fifth. With two outs, Guillermo Reyes collected an RBI double, followed by Andy Howdeshell's RBI single cut the New Haven lead to 3-2.

But the Cutters would cut the Jackal comeback short in the bottom of the sixth. An RBI single by Horace Lawrence, followed by two Jackal errors, one by Clay Kuklick, and the other by Adam Nikolic, helped New Haven push across five. After six innings, the Cutters led 8-2.

Sandy DeLeon singled in a run in the eighth, to finish the scoring for the Cutters.

The win went to New Haven's Jarrett Stawarz. He allowed two earned runs on seven hits, while walking one, and striking out five.

Raul Valdez suffered the loss in five full innings. He surrendered six runs, four earned, on 11 hits, while walking two, and striking out one.
