New Jersey Jackals News Release

Little Falls, NJ - The Brockton Rox brought the Jackals two losses closer to mathematical elimination, with a sweep of a doubleheader, on Friday night at Campanelli Stadium.

New Jersey came out swinging in the first, but after failing to push across a run, they folded for the rest of the game. Brockton clinched a playoff spot with the 5-0 win.

The first runs of the game came in the bottom of the third, when the Brockton Rox settled in against New Jersey's Jared Brown. A two out RBI single by Francisco Lebron set the stage for Jason Radwan, who took Brown deep for a three-run homerun. When all the dust settled, the Rox had a 4-0 lead, and that's all they'd need to get the win with Brad Guy on the mound.

They did add a run of insurance in the fifth on an RBI double by Jeff Larue, making the score 5-0.

After guy worked out of a bases loaded, two out, jam in the first, he cruised for the rest of the way. He allowed three hits, all in the first inning. He walked one, and struck out six in the complete game victory.

The loss went to New Jersey's Jared Brown. He went the distance for the Jackals, but allowed five earned runs in the process on nine hits. He walked four and struck out five.

A run scoring barrage in the third inning of game two urged the Rox to an 8-4 win in the nightcap.

The first inning of game two saw the Jackals threaten again, and this time they scored a run. With runners at second and third, a wild pitch by Brockton' s Edwin Morel allowed Guillermo Reyes to score.

In the third, New Jersey extended their lead to 3-0. Alex Fernandez collected a solo homerun, and Bill Peavey added an RBI single. But in the bottom half of the inning, the Rox made up the deficit, and then some. They posted seven runs off of Bryan Gaal and Adam Nikolic in the frame, to take a commanding 7-3 lead. Guye Senjem and Jason Radwan each had single RBI, while Joe Hough and Mike Scanzano chipped in with two a piece.

A Mike Torres RBI single in the fifth, made it an 8-3 lead for the Rox.

New Jersey scraped back in the fifth with an RBI base knock by John Lindsey. It cut the deficit to 8-4, but they'd get no closer.

Bryan Gaal suffered the loss for the Jackals in his first start professionally since 2005. Reliever Kyle George earned the victory.
