In the first game of the doubleheader Capitales starting pitcher Keith Dunn notched a complete game victory, allowing just two runs on seven hits, to improve to 6-11 on the season. Dunn struck out eight and walked just one en route to helping Quebec earn its 26th win of the second half, temporarily gaining ground on first place North Shore. The Capitales took full advantage of their eight hits, manufacturing seven runs. LF Ed Montague had his hands in most of those runs, driving in five of them in a 2-for-3 effort in which both hits were home runs. Sussex CF James Cooper had a good night at the plate and also homered, his second of the season. He was 3-for-4.

Sussex 5, Quebec 2 (Game 2 - 7 innings)

The Sussex Skyhawks plated five runs in the top of the seventh inning to stave off a Quebec sweep in dramatic fashion. The Skyhawks handed Capitales closer Christian Mendoza his first loss of the season, managing five runs, two earned, on two hits in just 2/3 of an inning. Sussex starting pitcher Brian Ford picked up his fifth win of the season, allowing two earned runs on nine hits in six innings of work. Skyhawks CF James Cooper led the way at the plate, turning in a 2-for-3 effort in which he scored once and drove in a run.

Brockton 5, New Jersey 0 (Game 1 - 7 innings)

Brockton starting pitcher Brad Guy pitched a complete game shutout against New Jersey at home to improve to 9-5 on the season and help his team clinch a playoff berth. Guy allowed just three hits and struck out six in the seven inning contest to open a doubleheader against the Jackals. Rox C Jason Radwan led the way at the plate, hitting his ninth home run of the year in a 1-for-1 effort in which he scored twice and drove in three. SS Mike Scanzano and DH Guye Senjem each went 2-for-4 in the game to help Brockton to the victory.

Brockton 8, New Jersey 4 (Game 2 - 7 innings)

Brockton pounded out 12 hits in the second game of a doubleheader against New Jersey and doubled-up the Jackals in the run column to win the game 8-4, thanks largely to a seven-run third inning. Rox reliever Kyle George took over for starter Edwin Morel after just four innings and was credited with his third win of the season after holding the Jackals scoreless for two innings. SS Mike Scanzano notched two hits for the second straight game. He was 2-for-2 with a run scored and two RBIs.

New Haven County 3, Nashua 2

The New Haven County Cutters got a solid outing from starting pitcher Rolando Valles, who allowed one earned run on four hits and struck out five through six innings of work to improve to 9-5 on the year. The Cutters got all three of their runs in the first two innings and managed just four hits in the contest but hung on behind Valles' performance and solid pitching out of the bullpen. 1B Chris Gaskin led the way at the plate for New Haven going 1-for-3 with two runs batted in.

North Shore 7, Worcester 6

North Shore starting pitcher Matthew Bishop was efficient through seven innings, allowing four earned runs on nine hits while striking out seven, and improved to 6-1 on the season after the Spirit hung out late to beat the Tornadoes by a run. The win improves North Shore to 31-12 in the second half and clinches the second half title. Spirit DH Alex Trezza had a big night at the plate, going 2-for-4, including two home runs, with two runs scored and four RBIs. RF Andrew Wishy was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI to help the Spirits' effort and 3B Antoin Gray was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
