New Jersey Jackals News Release

Little Falls, NJ The New Jersey Jackals weathered a couple of comebacks from the North Shore Spirit, and backed up starter Joe Orloski with 14 hits, in an 8-4 victory in Lynn, MA. The Jackals took the three game series with the victory.

After squandering a few opportunities in the first inning, thanks to base running errors, the Jackals lit up the scoreboard first, on Matt Hagen's two run homerun in the top of the second inning.

It took till the bottom of the fifth for North Shore to touch up Jackals' starter Joe Orloski. Orloski recorded the first two outs, before the floodgates opened. After hitting Alex Trezza, Cleatus Davidson doubled him home, and the next batter Marcos Agramonte singled to tie the contest.

But it would not take long for the Jackals to answer back. With one out in the top of the sixth, a solo homerun by Francisco Lebron, put the Jackals back on top, 3-2. They'd add another run off Spirit starter Joey Siak in the next inning, when Horace Lawrence doubled in Chris Rowan with two outs.

And in the eighth, the Jackals put the ballgame out of reach by putting up a four-spot on North Shore's bullpen. Ricardo doubled in two runs, and Matt Hagen pushed across a pair on a single, bringing his total to four RBIs in the ballgame.

North Shore cut the Jackal lead by two runs, with a pair of solo homeruns in the bottom of the eighth by Marcos Agramonte and Rob Fischer, off of James Mondesir, but they would get no closer.

Joe Orloski was fantastic in seven innings pitched. He surrendered two earned runs, on three hits, while fanning five, and walking none. It was Orloski's seventh win of the season.

North Shore's Joey Siak was the loser in six and two thirds innings. He allowed four runs, two of them earned runs, on eight hits, while walking two and striking out four.
