Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals just finally ran out of gas at home on Sunday, losing 4-1 to the Adirondack IceHawks in front of 3,946 at the Coach USA Center.

Dominic Chiasson opened the scoring with his 50th goal of the season, an unassisted marker at 5:30 of the first period. Elmira responded when Aaron Phillips fished out a loose puck next to Martin Villeneuve and slid it into the IceHawk goal to tie the game at 1-1. R.C. Lyke and Randy Murphy assisted on the goal at 6:55. Adirondack scored twice more in the period, once at 10:21 from J.C. Ruid and then again at 17:59 when Alex Dumas made it 3-1.

Neither team would score in the second period, and Adirondack would add the only goal of the third when Bogdan Rudenko added his 27th of the year from Hugo Belanger and James Patterson to ice the 4-1 win. Villeneuve stopped 34 of 35 Elmira shots while Marco Emond turned aside 22 of 26 in taking the loss. The game also saw the end of Glenn Stewart's eight game home scoring streak, and his seven consecutive game point scoring streak.

The Jackals will now have off until Thursday night when they face off against the Fort Wayne Komets for the last time this season. Game time is 7 pm, with tickets still available through the Coach USA Center Box Office, all TicketMaster locations, on line at www.TicketMaster.com, or charge by phone at (607) 722-3711.
