ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Jeff Goldie scored twice as Bakersfield jumped to a 5-1 lead and never looked back in an 8-3 victory over Anchorage Saturday before 4,272 at Sullivan Arena.

Defenseman Jonas Lennartsson scored his first goal of the entire season to give the Condors a 1-0 lead at the 8:46 mark of the second period. Shortly thereafter, Anchorage captain B.J. Young was lost for the game after aggravating a shoulder injury in a fight with Paul Rosebush. Bakersfield stretched its lead to 3-0 on goals by Jason Jackman and Goldie before Carl Drakensjo put the Aces on the board with a one-timer courtesy of a cross-ice pass from Ty Jones just 13.7 seconds before intermission.

The Condors quickly stifled any Anchorage momentum with a pair of power play goals in the first three minutes of the second period, scored by Goldie and Guy Dupuis. Drakensjo trimmed the gap to 5-2 midway through the period by punching home his own rebound, but Bakersfield still enjoyed a three-goal bulge heading into the final 20 minutes.

Jason Ralph pushed the margin to 6-2 with another power play goal only 2:56 into the third period, but the Aces still had life after David Bell was whistled for a five-minute major and a game misconduct for high-sticking Kevin McNeill in the face. Yvan Corbin scored his WCHL-leading 37th goal of the year on the ensuing power play, but the Condors killed off the remaining 3:38 of the man advantage and immediately scored at even strength, as Jamie Cooke tipped in a Quinn Fair drive from the point with eight minutes left in regulation to seal the win. Former Ace J.J. Wrobel converted a breakaway with 12.7 seconds remaining to cap the scoring.

Anchorage dropped to 3-2-1 under new head coach Perry Florio (15-41-3 overall) and remains four points behind fifth-place Long Beach. The Ice Dogs invade Sullivan Arena for a three-game series next weekend, beginning with Friday and Saturday night contests at 7:00 p.m. and concluding with a Sunday matinee at 5:00 p.m. The 3rd annual Guns n' Hoses game will be played at 4:00 p.m. prior to Saturday's tilt with Long Beach. All games are broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM and at www.anchorageaces.com, with Jack Michaels calling the play-by-play. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off, presented by GCI.
