Walby, Scott and Gardner are best in February

BILOXI, Miss. – The Sea Wolves announced today right wing Steffon Walby has been named Mississippi's ‘Player of the Month' for February. Forward Mike Scott captured ‘Rookie of the Month' honors and Greg Gardner took the team award for ‘Goaltender of the Month'. Mississippi completed February with a record of 9-5-0.

Walby, 30, played 11 games in February scoring 13 goals and adding six assists for 19 points to go along with a plus-1 rating. The 6-foot and 200-pound native of Lodi, Wisconsin has collected a total of 35 goals and 37 helpers for 72 points in just 47 games. He also has a plus-21 rating. Walby is in his second season as the Sea Wolves player / assistant coach and team captain.

Scott, 25, tallied eight goals and collected 14 assists for 22 points in 14 games. He has also posted a plus-5 rating. The 6-foot-1 and 195-pound rookie is a native of Calgary, Alberta. Scott has set three Sea Wolves rookie records this season by netting 20 goals, picking up 33 assists and 53 points. He was acquired in a trade with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies on October 29.

Gardner, 27, backstopped Mississippi to a 5-3-0 record in eight games during February. The 6-foot and 190-pound native of Mississauga, Ontario compiled a 2.08 goals against average and .939 save percentage. He is second among ECHL goaltenders with 26 wins, fifth overall with a 2.67 goals against average and fourth in save percentage at .921. Gardner signed with Mississippi as a free agent on October 5.

Mississippi travels to Baton Rouge on Wednesday for a 7:05 opening face-off at the Riverside Centroplex.

The Sea Wolves return home for games both Friday and Saturday at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. On Friday, Mississippi hosts South Carolina at 7:35 p.m. All military receive two tickets for the price of one, including NASA and Stennis employees.

Then on Saturday, the Sea Wolves entertain Pensacola at 7:35 p.m. at the Wolves Den.
