Jackals bats blanked by Quebec

New Jersey Jackals News Release
Little Falls, NJ In one of the best pitching matchups of the year, Quebec Les Capitales RHP Gabe Ribas (9-2) out-dueled New Jersey Jackals RHP Joel Bennett (6-2) en route to a 5-0 win for Les Capitales.
Ribas was outstanding, as usual. The 26-year-old former Padres farmhand has been dominant all season long, and tonight was no different. He scattered just four hits over eight strong innings of work, walking two while striking out five. With his ninth victory of the year, Ribas is now tied with ex-Jackals RHP John Kelly for the Can-Am league lead.
Bennett was no slouch either, but he still did not turn in a performance typical of his ËThe Man, The Myth, The Legend title that he has been bestowed with, courtesy of the Jackals' faithful. The staff ace was still solid in front of an anemic offense, pitching six innings and surrendering six hits, two earned runs, and four walks, striking out three.
Only three Jackals were able to pickup hits in the game. C Clay Kuklick went 2-for-3, and until the 8th inning had the only Jackals hits of the night. That was only until LF "Mayor" John Lindsey stroked a base hit, and 2B Joe Mihalics smashed a double into the CF wall. Still, the Jackals were unable to produce a run.
For Les Capitales, CF Geoff Tomlinson went 1-for-4, knocking in 2 RBIs on a double to LF in the top half of the 3rd inning to open the scoring for the evening. LF Nestor Smith was 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI, and SS Willie James swiped his 25th base of the season while picking up a hit and scoring a pair of runs in the winning effort.
Tomorrow is Yogi Berra Autograph Day at the ballpark, and fans are encouraged to get in line as early as possible, as Yogi will only be signing 300 autographs. But in order to receive a signature, you must have a ticket in-hand, so call the Jackals box office at (973) 655-8025.
