
Jackals' Argenis Reyes Sold to the Boston Red Sox

Little Falls, NJ - The New Jersey Jackals have sold infielder Argenis Reyes to the Boston Red Sox organization. The 27-year old will report to Boston's Triple-A affiliate, the Pawtucket Red Sox of the International League.
In 33 games with the Jackals this season, Reyes batted .279 with two home runs and 15 RBIs. The native of Santiago, Dominican Republic had committed just two errors as the team's starting second baseman.
"We are very excited for Argenis." Manager Joe Calfapietra commented. "It is great to see Argenis get another chance in affiliated baseball and get one step closer to returning to the major leagues."
Reyes made his Major League debut in 2008 with the New York Mets where he appeared in 49 games. Reyes made his professional debut in 2001 with the Cleveland Indians organization. Over his nine-year career in the minors, Reyes has a .287 AVG with 115 doubles, 33 triples and 12 home runs. In 2009, Reyes played for the Buffalo Bisons, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets. In 101 games, Reyes had a .282 AVG with 19 doubles, four triples, and three home runs. Reyes' was called up to the New York Mets and played in nine games.
Reyes, who signed with New Jersey prior to the season, becomes the sixth Jackals player since the end of the 2009 season to sign with a Major League organization and the 21st to sign since the beginning of the 2006 season.
The Jackals wish Argenis Reyes the best of luck for the rest of the 2010 season.
