Little Falls, NJ - The New Jersey Jackals and Nashua Pride split a Tuesday night doubleheader at Yogi Berra Stadium, with the Jackals taking game one 12-2 before the Pride returned the favor with a 6-2 victory in game two.

In game one, the Pride jumped out to a 2-0 second inning lead against Jackals starter Ted Serro when 1B Brian Duplissie hit a solo home run, followed later in the inning by an RBI double by DH Dorian Rojas which plated 2B Ismael Castro, who had reached on an error. Those two runs were all Nashua would score against Serro (3-2), who picked up the win after allowing one earned run on three hits in five innings. In the bottom of the second, the Jackals offense began to heat up as New Jersey took a 3-2 lead. A two-run triple by SS Bryant Nelson with 3B David Urias and CF Zack Smithlin tied the score before 1B Juan Tejeda doubled home Nelson to give the Jackals a lead they wouldn't relinquish as New Jersey scored in each following innings. In the third, a Smithlin sacrifice fly made it 4-2. In the fourth, New Jersey scored three more runs on a bases loaded double off the bat of RF Marcos Rodriguez to take a 7-2 lead. In the fifth, a two-run single by DH Luke Allen and a wild pitch extended the Jackals' lead to 10-2. In the sixth, New Jersey capped the scoring when 3B David Urias dropped a two-run home run over the left field wall to give the Jackals a 12-2 lead. For Nashua, right-handed starter Jarrett Stawarz (3-3) took the loss, lasting just 3 1/3 innings and allowing six runs on nine hits. Once Stawarz left the contest, Nashua OF Greg Ford and C Chris Torres combined for two innings on the mound.

In game two, the Jackals took a 1-0 lead in the first inning lead on a solo home run by Nelson in what began as a pitchers duel between New Jersey's Tom Atlee and Nashua starter Matt O'Brien. That score held until the fourth inning when the Pride tied the game at 1-1 when they plated an unearned run on a double play. In the top of the fifth, Nashua broke the game open with four runs as they knocked Atlee out of the game. Two straight singles followed by a Chris Torres RBI double gave the Pride a 2-1. Later in the inning, RBI hits by DH Dorian Rojas and 1B Bryan Duplissie extended the Nashua lead to 5-1. The teams exchanged runs in the seventh, but Nashua hung on for the victory.

For the Pride, O'Brien (1-0) picked up the win in his Nashua debut. New Jersey's Atlee (1-4) was tagged with the loss after allowing five runs - four earned - on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. The Jackals and Pride continue their four-game series on Wednesday morning at 11:05 a.m. If you can't make it out to Yogi Berra Stadium, you can catch every inning via live webcast at www.jackals.com with the broadcast beginning five minutes prior to first pitch.
