Jackalopes Top IceRays, 5-4, In Shootout

(Corpus Christi, TX) - Joel Martin made 48 saves as the Odessa Jackalopes defeated the Corpus Christi, 5-4, in a shootout at the American Bank Center on Friday night. It was Martin's second shootout victory of the season.

The IceRays scored the only goal of the first period as Jereme Tendler wristed one past Joel Martin at 3:43 to make it 1-0 after the first.

The Jackalopes answered back with three unanswered goals in the second. Phil Plante netted his second goal of the year at 1:38 on assists from Seabastien Thinel and Collin Circelli. Less than a minute later Mike Ramsay gave Odessa a 2-1 lead at 2:20. Kory Karlander added the helper. At 16:00 of the period, Thinel ended a six-game goal drought with his first goal of the season to make it 3-1 Odessa. Plante and Alex Dunn had the assists as Odessa took a two-goal lead into the break.

In third, the IceRays came back to tie the game at 4-4 from a pair of goals from Jereme Tendler and one from Justin Quenneville. Kenny Bernard scored for Odessa as the game would go to overtime and a shootout.

Ramsay and Thinel scored for the Jacks in the shootout while Martin turned aside four shooters for the Rays. Odessa took the shootout win with a 5-4 final.

The Jackalopes are off until next Thursday when they return to Corpus Christi to face the IceRays at 7:05 PM. The game can be heard live on 102.1 Jack FM.
